Visit the new Marine Mammal Rescue exhibit at the B.C. Wild Coast for a sneak peek into our Marine Mammal Rescue Centre ─ the only facility of its kind in Canada and one of the largest rescue facilities in the world.
Meet our rescued residents, who now find sanctuary at the Vancouver Aquarium after being deemed non-releasable by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Hear their stories, and learn what you can do to help.
The Aquarium rescues distressed marine animals, including seals and sea lions. Our rescue centre rehabilitates them for release back to our local waters, unless their injuries are too severe, or they were orphaned too young to fend for themselves. These find sanctuary at the Aquarium and act as ambassadors for their kind.
Harbour seals are found along the coast of the temperate Northern Hemisphere, often in coastal waters, estuaries and river systems.
